If you’re a new mom you may have wondered how you’ll breastfeed your baby in public…..Well you could wear a baggy T-shirt 3 sizes too big like my mom proudly did (every mom did in the 90’s). OR you can buy some flattering and affordable specialty nursing tops.
I’ve successfully breastfed 3 babies until a year old. Since I had my babies back to back I have three straight years of experience. From what I’ve learned I can tell you two things:
#1: Breastfeeding is W.O.N.D.E.R.F.U.L for your body (and baby’s of course) and
#2: Breastfeeding // Nursing tops are EXPENSIVE!
I’m talking about $70 a top or more! Crazy! AND most of them are hideous. With my first two boys, I bought specialty tops and they hugged me in all the wrong places. Not good for a self-conscious postpartum mom.
After trying many brands I made my own breastfeeding camis from camisoles that I cut the straps off and sewed a hook onto. I wore those under a loose top….(NO NOT A 90’s T-SHIRT) and would pull down the cami and pull up the top creating an area just big enough for my baby to eat.
Now that I’m on my third baby boy, I am really glad I found Undercover Mama. They sell a variety of clothing for breastfeeding and pregnancy. What I love most is that you can wear these clothes long after the baby’s been born. What makes these THE BEST breastfeeding tops is the fact that they work, and are SUPER AFFORDABLE!
There are a ton of options for you and everything is trendy or easy to wear with anything. Honestly, I wish I found them sooner. I ordered one of their “top covers” in white and one of the “undercovers” in a seafoam green.
The top cover I ordered in white is like a crop top. It goes over your cami and makes feeding even easier. You can also wear it under a lowcut dress or top and pull it up and the shirt down to feed that way too.
The undercover camisole has two ways to hook onto your breastfeeding / nursing bra. There is a clear stretchy band you can slip over the latch, and a traditional “hook” you can slide onto the bra.
I’m just glad that now I don’t have to cut the straps off my perfectly good cami’s. These are super soft and slightly strechy. They hold your tummy in and make you feel smooth (Not like you just had a baby…or three in my case).
Please head over to the Undercover Mama website and check out the awesome variety of clothes they have for mamas, and soon to be’s. I hope you enjoyed this post. If so I would appreciate it if you share it. I wish I had found affordale nursing clothes sooner, and I know there are more ladies out there who would love this informaion too!
